Thanks to the excellent
leadership of our new division director, Dr. Joe W. Gray, the Life Sciences
Division microarray facility is acquiring new capability by purchasing a new
state-of-art HTA system from Affymetrix, which will facilitate our transition
from spotted high density arrays to high throughput, 96 well format
Affymetrix GeneChip arrays. This
new system offers a reduced cost-structure that is competitive against
spotted array, increased data reliability, and much increased
throughput. The funding for this
new high thoughput GeneChip system is provided by DOE and UCSF, and the new
system is expected to arrive by the end of the year and be operational in the
Spring of 2005. For more
information, please check our website for updates, or contact the microarray facility
manager Frank Chen. |
